Meet The Team

NicolaNicola (owner) “I started my life at Clementine in 2012, taking it over from Penny who originally started the shop in 2005. After many years in food retail, it has been brilliant to be choosing and selling lovely inspiring gifts and homewares that people are excited to buy – a big difference from the weekly grocery shopping! Since having a baby in 2013 I am busy working on growing our baby ranges now that I know what baby gifts people REALLY want!”

Favourite Clementine product – my growing collection of Pink Geranium bags!

DeniseDenise “I have been a part-timer for the last 7 years and would be very rich if I had £1 for every time someone told me Clementine is their favourite shop!  I particularly love the calm, soothing atmosphere and I really enjoy helping Nicola with new window displays and merchandising. We have lots of lovely regular customers, who are very loyal to us, and we all relish the challenge of helping them choose the perfect gift.”

Favourite Clementine product – There’s no competition as far as I am concerned!  It has to be the gorgeous hand knitted tea cosies from Towie Design – mine has pride of place in my kitchen!

AnneAnne “I had worked in the drinks industry for many years, then joined Clementine Home and Gifts in 2012 after accepting a redundancy package.  I really love working in the shop – it’s lovely to come in and work in such pleasant surroundings with beautiful goods and with a great team of people.”

Favourite Clementine product – I love the range from our new supplier Gabrielle, a local girl whose company is called Braw.  Her designs are fabulous and I particularly like the “Highland Coo.” The beach bag I have bought in that design has already been much admired!

NicNic “I joined the team at Clementine in September 2014 having worked for several years in high-street retail. I had always loved the unique styles of the gift shops in Bruntsfield and I really enjoy all of our local and hand made items. It’s very refreshing to see products that are just that little bit different! There’s never a dull day in Clementine and I really enjoy helping our customers find gifts that stand out from the crowd.”

Favourite Clementine product – The local area mugs from Tinned Snail. They are a small company who make a range of designs just for us; my favourite is “Bruntsfield” but they make others including “Edinburgh” and “Morningside”, all in a range of beautiful colours. It’s lovely to fill one with a good hot drink and just sit and think of home.

Monika “After working in hospitality industry for a few years I decided it was time to find a peaceful and stress-free job while I develop my career as a freelance photographer. I started working at Clementine in September 2015 and I have to say it’s the best job I have ever had! Great team, lovely customers and peace of mind! I enjoy being surrounded by so many gorgeous products and sharing them with our customers.”

Favourite Clementine product – I am absolutely in love with our local product – the Neckerchew by Cheeky Chompers. I don’t yet have children myself, but I always make sure all my friends with children are equipped with one of these brilliant and stylish (and reversible!) chewy dribble bibs!

GeorgeGeorge  Our beloved George was sadly put to sleep on Tues 24th May 2016. It was a very peaceful end to a long and happy life at the ripe old age of 17. He is dearly missed by Denise and all of us at Clementine – the shop is not the same without him. We are very grateful to have had such a remarkable dog as our ‘shop dog’ and would like to thank all of our customers for their kindness to him over the past few years.
